Panasonic plans for 40-inch OLED TVs by 2011

Panasonic announces its plan to launch 40-inch OLED TVs by 2011. Apparently, it has spent about $930m on production of OLED panels. It is also said to come up with 20inch and larger OLEDs which will be available next year.
The OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode ) offers improved brightness, contrast and faster response compared to LCD screens. The OLED panels also demand for lesser energy and provide wider viewing angles. They are much thinner compared to the LCD displays.
Panasonic’s aim of manufacturing a 40-inch OLED HDTV by 2011 will expand the OLED market segment further. The markets are already graced with OLED screens by Sony and Samsung.
Well, Samsung has already introduced its 40-inch OLED display but Panasonic aims at the mass production of the same. Lets wait and watch.
