Sony today announced a new PSP handheld gaming console. Inheriting the basic design and functionality of the current “slim and light” PSP, Sony’s latest PSP dubbed PSP-3000 sports a high contrast LCD screen and an in-built microphone.

Now, gamers can enjoy games and content with voice input functionality along with high resolution 4.3-inch TFT wide screen. Offering a resolution of 480×272 pixel, it claims to deliver highest-level contrast ratio, response time, wider color gamut and anti-reflection technology.

In addition, the latest PlayStation Portable also incorporates Skype and other communication tools, the extended video-out port to output gameplay in interlace format, for playing games on non-progressive TVs by using separately sold cables.

Shinning in piano black, pearl white and mystic silver, the PSP-3000 sports 64MB internal memory, support for Wireless LAN, High Speed USB, an integrated stereo speakers, Memory Stick PRO Duo support, and essential buttons to operate the device according to your convenience.

Scheduled to hit the market worldwide in October 2008, the new Sony PSP-3000 will be seen in stores in countries such as Japan, Asia, North America and Europe. Price is still under curtains.

Next Generation Nintendo DS handheld to Launch This Year?



There is yet another speculation about the new Nintendo DS! Earlier, there were rumors stating that Nintendo DS will roll out 7-inch wide screen Ds model. However, the company completely disagreed with that gossip. The next rumor hinted the next generation Nintendo DS will be unveiled at E3 2008, which didn’t happen either. All we saw were new colors and limited editions of the Nintendo DS. But once again there seems to be news about the upcoming DS model by Nintendo.
Nintendo is preparing DS successor, which will release by end of this year, stated Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter.
According to Pachter, “It is likely that DS demand will continue to decline in Japan, and we think that Nintendo has a new handheld device ready for launch in that territory before the end of the calendar year. We think that the lion’s share of the expected 28 million DS hardware units shipped during the fiscal year will land in the US and Europe, and we expect to see strong software sales in those territories.”
The Nintendo DS is seeing a decrease in sales in the Japanese market. Hopefully, this new DS will help rejuvenate the sales that is if or when it finally comes out.


Microsoft to Drop Xbox 360 Price Next Month?


Just a few weeks back we had reported about theX box 360 price drop by Microsoft but once again there are rumors circulating which hint that there could be another price drop in the offing. However, the news is just speculation at this stage.
Art Technica is reporting that Microsoft will cut the price for its Xbox 360 consoles next month. Apparently, they expect the Xbox 360 Arcade (no hard drive) to carry a new price tag of $199, the Pro (60 GB) version of Xbox 360 would be made available for $299 and the Elite (120 GB) model would cost $399.
Previously, Microsoft had reduced the price of the 60 GB version to $349 and 20 GB model to $299. Now, if you compare the cost, 60 GB has again reached the same price tag as that of 20 GB.
Comparing the current prices of Live Arcade and Elite console with the new speculated prices, the Arcade will receive a price cut by $80 and the Elite console will have a price drop by $50.

Panasonic plans for 40-inch OLED TVs by 2011


Panasonic announces its plan to launch 40-inch OLED TVs by 2011. Apparently, it has spent about $930m on production of OLED panels. It is also said to come up with 20inch and larger OLEDs which will be available next year.
The OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode ) offers improved brightness, contrast and faster response compared to LCD screens. The OLED panels also demand for lesser energy and provide wider viewing angles. They are much thinner compared to the LCD displays.
Panasonic’s aim of manufacturing a 40-inch OLED HDTV by 2011 will expand the OLED market segment further. The markets are already graced with OLED screens by Sony and Samsung.
Well, Samsung has already introduced its 40-inch OLED display but Panasonic aims at the mass production of the same. Lets wait and watch.

The inclusion of these features will help the LG handsets deliver realistic surround sound experience with headphones, create a wide, rich and spacious soundstage for music playback, add remarkable boost and bass extension, restore high-frequency effects and tune the audio experience.
